Can I lose weight through exercise?

Along with balanced eating habits, exercise is your most effective way to manage weight long term. Exercise burns energy, builds tone, improves fitness - and overall wellbeing. Why live without it?

How much exercise will I need to get fit and lose weight?

SPARC recommends at least 30 minutes of exercise most days a week to stay active and healthy. For faster results, our "drop a dress size" challenge includes 45 minutes of exercise 4 time a week.

Aren't there easier ways to lose and manage weight than exercise?

Forget fads. Worldwide, the evidence is compelling. Long-term weight management is only achieved by a combination of exercise and watching what you eat.

I've never belonged to a gym, will I cope?

Of course you will! You'll find other women just like you at Contours. Our members and staff will encourage and support you every step of the way. You'll feel at home in no time. And six free fitness assessments a year will help you stay on track.

How long until I notice results?

The golden rule is you get what you give: the more you challenge yourself, the more you'll achieve. Many members tell us they feel fitter within a week of joining. Participants on our challenges typically achieve at least one dress size in as little as 6 weeks. Wow!

What about my kids?

Your darlings will have a ball while your getting results. Most branches offer child minding facilities at a very reasonable price, with trained, certified staff.

Once I've joined, will there be any add-on costs?

FREE is a big word at Contours. Most day-to-day classes (eg crosstrain, Step, circuit, sculpt, Radical) are free. You'll also get free saunas, free help from trained instructors, free reciprocal use of Contours branches in other centres, and free regular health and fitness checks to keep you on track. Some premium classes, such as one-on-one personal, group training, spin and pilates, are extra. And of course, many Contours branches offer additional and reasonably-priced services including hair, beauty, nutrition, sunbeds, physio and childcare.

We may be the best, but we're not expensive. Contours costs no more than a "self-service" or express gym. Sometimes less. We have a range of affordable memberships available to suit your budget, so just give us a call and we can find the option that is best for you
